ทดสอบ PS3 Emulation บน PS5 ผลลัพธ์น่าทึ่งแต่ยังไม่สมบูรณ์แบบ
Digital Foundry ได้ทำการทดลองจำลองการเล่นเกม PS3 บนเครื่อง PS5 ผ่านโปรแกรมจำลอง RPCS3 โดยผลการทดสอบพบว่าเกมที่ไม่ได้ใช้ SPUs (Synergistic Processing Units) ของ PS3 มากนัก สามารถเล่นได้ดีบน PS5 ในระดับ 4K และเฟรมเรตที่น่าพอใจ เช่น Ridge Racer 7 หรือ Resistance: Fall of Man อย่างไรก็ตาม เกมที่พึ่งพา SPUs หนักๆ เช่น GTA: Episodes from Liberty City ยังคงประสบปัญหาด้านประสิทธิภาพเมื่อเทียบกับการเล่นบนเครื่อง PS3 ดั้งเดิม
